Community Defib Project
If you're tossing up between the cost of the units, vs. cost privately, there are some key things you need to consider, installing the unit for public access and then calling it a 'Community Defib'.. there is absolutely nothing wrong with doing it alone, but why would you when our team can make it easier for you.
If you're tossing up between the cost of the units, vs. cost privately, there are some key things you need to consider:
What kind of AED are you going to purchase? the nature of the defib business is there are many products available to the market, some are cheaper, some are dearer, LOTS have hidden costs for ongoing consumables,
Our team has done all of the research for you, over 4 years and we know that cheaper is not always better and that the service from the supplier you choose is the MOST important item on the list. We already know exactly what you and your community need without the fuss. Our corporate pricing arrangements keep our pricing competitive, so make sure you're comparing apples with apples and don't end up with a lemon.
Where are you going to put the community defib? sometimes it's simple, some times it's not, our team have a process to identify and install in the safest possible way and not only this, we're known and trusted to be successful
What kind of signage do you need? Reality is you and your community need appropraite signage for a number of reasons, this can be expensive and a complex process to get right.
Our team has already got this sorted for you and is as simple as adapting to your community and sponsors
Who is going to install the unit? Will it be safely installed? This one is a no brainer, it needs to be installed safely and to spec.
How are you going to advertise the unit within your community? The truth is, we can put as many community defibs out there, but if no one knows where the units are or how to access them, they may as well not be there. We have a tried and tested program to not only advise the community of your installs but to educate them on how to use them
Who is going to check the unit? How often? Who is going to clean the unit? - our team have a system to ensure your unit is checked monthly and this is then recorded and managed through our system, this is important assurance for the community
What happens when the unit is accessed? Who retrieves the unit? How do you find out about it? Then what.. - Personally, our team thinks this is the hardest part of the project. Units are accessed, and often you are speaking with people who have gone through the toughest time of their life. Our team is specially trained in this and it will be a paramedic or experienced health professional that will contact the family or loved one that has accessed the community defib and arrange for it's retrieval. In mean time we make sure one of the spare community defibs is in it's place, so it's back and operational.
How are you going to educate the community? What happens when they ask clinical questions? - our team is full of registered health professionals, paramedics and experienced staff that can help with this. Along with our launch events we make sure every community member is comfortable using an AED.
Who looks after the maintencance? Pads and Batteries? - don't worry we've got you covered on this too.
What about fundraising? What about sponsorship?
And the list goes on... and on...
After nearly 5 years of experience in this space, you can absoultely look after all these things alone, but it's tough and our team and project was developed to make the process easy for you. It might feel more a little more expensive in the early stages, but remember, our prices include all of the above, plus a full package including cabinet, defib, signage, all ready to go and we do it for an as affordable price as possibe.
The additional funds that your community may pay, go straight back into improving the project and making sure that we can monitor and maintain your community's defibs and all community's defibs.
It's a question that we rarely get but it's important for all of our communities to understand. We're a not-for-profit, which means all of our 'funds' go towards the project and our mission of installing community accessible defibrillators. Our pricing, is made up of our costs + a margin on top to pay for things like our staff, website and services. The truth is we run on bare minimum running costs so our resources are limited. This is why sponsorship direct to the project (not specifically a community) is important. This allows our team to provide communities with better services and support.
We receive no ongoing funding from a major sponsor or government grants. Each community defib is fund raised for '1 AED at a time'.
