Monthly aed check

How to complete the monthly AED check?

 This form is put together by Registered Paramedics from the Community Defib Project and is designed to assist any member of the public to check a community access AED if rquested. If you have any questions about this form please email info@communitydefibproject.org.au


Use form below with instructions to check the AED.


To check the AED:

  1. Confirm that the AED is in it's cabinet as shown in image 1 
  2. Confirm that signage is in place as shown in image 1 - note any fading, damage or defects.
  3. Confirm that there is no evidence of water damage or seal issues
  4. Open the lock (shown in image 2) using the code listed on the cabinet - note any issues 
  5. Turn the silver dial and open cabinet (image 3)
  6. If the unit has an alarm it will sound for 15 seconds 
  7. Take the black box out of the cabinet (image 4) and open it to check the unit - confirm the unit has the 'tick' or AED ready confirmation light (brand dependent) - (image 5 and 6)
  8. Note any comments or abnormalities with the unit and submit the form
