Community Defib Project

LOCALLY LED. COMMUNITY DRIVEN.

How it works.

CDP guides the process. Your community brings the local knowledge, people and energy to make it happen.

01

Get in touch

Tell CDP about your community, its needs, existing AEDs and the people keen to help.

02

Explore the project together

Discuss the project with CDP and arrange an introduction workshop. This explains the community approach; CPR and AED education comes later.

03

Build your local committee

Nominate a Team Leader and bring together at least two volunteers: a Team Leader and one other committee member. Local knowledge, relationships and decisions drive the project.

04

Plan locations and ongoing support

Identify suitable locations, existing AEDs that might join the network, fundraising goals and local sponsors. Choose annual support or pay as you go before installation.

05

Fundraise and involve the community

Bring residents and businesses into the project through donations, sponsorship, grants and local fundraising. Promote the plan so people know how to contribute.

06

Coordinate installation

Work with CDP on the AED, cabinet, signage and installation arrangements. Existing units can be assessed for inclusion in the network.

07

Launch and build awareness

Celebrate the community’s work, share AED locations and discuss education with CDP so people understand how to access and use an AED.

08

Keep the network supported

Arrange monthly checks, keep contacts current, fund maintenance and report emergency use or faults promptly. Review the community’s needs as the project grows.
